In 2013, the Expanded Polystyrene Association called for the provision of test specimens from its members and measured the thermal conductivity (λ) over time from immediately after the production of a total of 53 specimens corresponding to JIS A 9511 standards "Type 1, Type 2, Type 3, Type 4" at a public testing institution for up to 90 days. In 2016, three years later, the thermal conductivity of the specimens was measured again at a public institution to investigate the actual "time-dependent changes over three years." As a result, it was demonstrated that "the change in insulation performance of EPS is extremely small compared to other foamed plastics." The "long-term stability of insulation performance" is an essential factor for ensuring and maintaining a comfortable living space, as well as for prolonging the lifespan and value of housing.
